Health and safety

The safety of your child is of the utmost priority, which is why our nursery has recently installed a biometric security system.

Health and safety also plays an important part in nursery life. We provide a safe environment for all children, parents, carers and staff.

Our nursery staff receive regular training and updates on health and safety issues. Our setting has a named health and safety officer who is responsible for carrying out regular health and safety checks in and around the nursery.

Healthy diet

Mealtimes are considered a social occasion, encouraging the children to be independent, use good table manners, join in with speaking and listening activities and develop good personal hygiene skills, such as hand-washing and cleaning teeth after lunch.

Our cooks are responsible for the preparation of good-quality, home-cooked food, serving fresh vegetables, fruit and a well-balanced nutritional diet, catering for all dietary requirements.

Snack times also enhance the children’s learning, offering them freedom of choice and encouraging social skills. Successful weaning at the various stages is achieved by a close consultation between parents, carers, nursery cooks and your child’s key worker.

Child development

We currently follow the Birth to Three Framework and the Foundation Stage Curriculum for children aged 3-5 years-old.

Continuity of care is achieved by the implementation of an effective key worker system. Each key worker is responsible for ensuring that their key children’s developmental needs are met through love, care and understanding.

At Hocus Pocus Day Nursery we believe none of this would be possible without the close partnership we develop with parents and carers.
